Climate resilience is everyday safety

Flooded basements, icy sidewalks, extreme heat, poor air quality and overloaded infrastructure are not abstract climate issues. They affect insurance, health, commuting, housing and household budgets.

Retrofits and clean energy

Buildings are a major opportunity for emissions reduction, comfort and lower bills. Scaling retrofits, heat pumps, insulation, solar, district energy and waste-heat reuse can turn climate work into local employment and long-term savings.

Stormwater and flood protection

Green streets, permeable surfaces, catch-basin maintenance, upgraded drainage and basement flooding protection reduce damage before it happens.

Trees, shade and cool streets

Tree canopy, shade structures, cool roofs, parks and green corridors reduce heat risk while improving public space. Neighbourhoods with less shade should be prioritized.

Waste prevention and circular systems

The best waste strategy starts before disposal. Reuse, repair, sharing, organics, better sorting and salvage networks can extend landfill life while supporting community jobs.
